Home

It's hard to believe that a week ago today we were celebrating Easter with our new family in Newcastle. Now that we are all home and catching up with our families and friends, it's hard not to reflex on our time in Northern Ireland. Last night as I shared with my family everything we did and all of the things we saw, I couldn't help but cry. I am so blessed to have been given this opportunity to lead this amazing team. The memories we all shared and bonds that were built during our time in Northern Ireland will be with me forever. I want to personally thank each member of the team for everything. I would also like to thank the many family members and friends who supported the team, prayed for the team, and checked out the blog. I ask that you all continue to pray for the team, John and Jo Moxen, and the staff at Kairos as well as the kids and people of Newcastle where we served. Please also check back as we will be posting information about our chapel presentation and we would love to have you attend.

God Bless,
Danelle

Last day Blog entry :-(

It's been so amazing working at Kairos all week making new friends and building relationships. Every morning our host, John, has been giving us a Bible study and he has been challenging us to do something with our faith. His words have been such an encouragement through this week with everyone getting sick and what not. Later we did the same kids club we've been doing and it was just so amazing to see the smiles on everyone's faces. Its bitter sweet because we're leaving tomorrow morning. The other day we had two of the kids asking how they could become Christians' s today we gave Mark and Chloe Bibles with some encouraging notes in it. But the amazing thing was that in no less than 10 minutes Mark was sitting in a chair reading his new Bible while everyone else was dancing around. The kids have all been so amazing. We had our last walk to the beach and now we are having a girls night at the Kairos center watching high school musical while the guys are out playing some midnight football. These girls are amazing.

So today is our last day and I can without a doubt say I want to live here for life. I absolutely love theses kids. Today Andrea, a little girl I bonded with looked at me and whispered "I love you, I don't want you to leave me". Too cute!! It burdens me that a lot of these kids don't have very good home situations or structure...however, A little boy named Mark asked how he could become a Christian and spent all of singing time reading Genesis. I got the impression some of these kids have never even heard about God so it was amazing leading small groups with them discussing what our favorite thing about God was. This team inspires me. They push me to do my best and where I'm lacking, they are strong in. It's been amazing talking about what God is doing in our lives during devotions. This trip has also helped us grow as people in responsibility. We have practically ran this kids camp on our own. When the skit wasn't working out, we'd improv...when small group wasn't going well, we'd adapt and ask kids questions they could relate to. It's amazing building relationships with these kids and seeing God work through them and for them.

As I sit at Kairos chaperoning the girls night in while the boys are out playing football aka soccer, I can't help but reflect on the week and the amazing memories we all have. It is going to be hard to leave tomorrow (I really want to move here) but at the same time we are all at least a wee bit excited to come home and share our experiences with everyone. It has been a true blessing watching this team grow and mature through this week. Each of the kids has impacted me in one way or another and I just hope that the bonds that were built during our time here continue to grow once we return home. John and Jo Moxen have become family to each and everyone us and I was truly blessed to have gotten to know them and have them share their testimony with The team. It was also amazing to have gotten to work with Kylie and the rest of the team at Kairos. Please continue to pray for the people of New Castle as well as the staff of Murlough House. See you all tomorrow.

Day 8 pictures: just a little late

Here are some pictures from yesterday's events.

Day 8: more Kairos, fish and chips and Gallic Football

Expect pictures tomorrow morning. The ca,era is dead so I'll take care of it in the morning. Check back when you wake up. Today we ministered at Kairos House again, then went out for fish and chips with the Kairos staff. After dinner we went to Castlewellen for a Gallic football game, which was awesome. So here are the students:

It was a very eventful day!!!! We went to kairos center and played capture the flag. And I got very close with this girl named Laura, and we talked about deep stuff. The best thing about today was getting close with a lot of the kids and staff, and being able to have a great time together. I think my favorite thing thus far is building new relationships with great people and kids, as well as being open and sharing God with each other. The Lord has defiantly blessed me with this wonderful opportunity to be here and meet these people, without his support none of this would be possible. This is defiantly a memory that will last me a lifetime. Lauren

Hey guys its Rachel! The weather was beautiful today, bright and sunny! It's so nice to be able to walk out the front door and smell the fresh air and a breeze from the sea. It's so gorgeous here! Today we went to Kairos and performed a skit for the kids about the story of Joseph. It has been amazing to See the reactions the kids have towards the bible skits we perform for them and to see how easily they adjusted to us after only a couple of days. God is definitely working. For dinner we went to this little restaurant by the water called the Galley. They are known for they're fish and chips! After that we went to a Gaelic football game which was very interesting since none of us have seen one before! It was so fun! Thanks for your prayers and support...Rachel.

Day 7

Here are some pictures from Day 7. Looks like an awesome day. I didn't get to enjoy it much as I was suffering from a cold. Looks like I'll be up and around again tomorrow.

Wednesday in Northern Ireland

Hey everyone it's Torie! It's been great here in Northern Ireland.Today was a great day.We went to the Kairos center again and had an amazing time. It's been so fun to get to know some of the kids here and have fun with them. This country is so beautiful. You can go from seeing the beach to snow covered mountains. What other place could you do that? We visited Dundrum castle today and it was gorgeous! It was so pretty to see. We could see so much of the country from the top.
That's all for tonight.
Torie

What another amazing day in Northern Ireland. Today we spent time serving at Kairos and the kids put on skits about the life of Peter. Today we remembered to video the skits so hopefully we can work on posting them. It was so neat seeing the kids working with the young children. The relationships that they are forming are truly remarkable that it is going to be really challenging leaving our new home for New Jersey. We spent the early evening walking around New Castle exploring the sites and shops before heading to the Dundrum Castle ruins. It has truly been a blessing leading this great group of students this week. I must admit I too am said to see our time coming to an end. Please continue to pray for the children and youth that live in New Castle and the surrounding areas as well as for the the volunteers and workers at Kairos Center.

Another day in Northern Ireland

Hey guys! It's Chris, this week has been both challenging and amazing. God has helped me grow within and He helped me grow comfortable with myself. Today we worked at the Kairos center again and the kids just loved the activities we did. My favorite part of the day was this evening, there was a teen drop-in event where the teens come to the Kairos center to hang out and have a good time. The teens there had a a lot of fun and they were so accepting and loving. The guys that work at the kairos center are accepting as we'll, our two teams have already been forming good friendships. I have been forming friendships with a guy named Mark and a girl named Shannon. They are both really cool people who love The Lord with all their hearts. I'm sure you'll see them in some of the pictures we are posting. Well I'm tired so ill get going. I love you all and miss you! Cheers!

Everybody always says that a missions trip is not the place to fall in love, but I think I have... I've fallen in love with this country. From morning prayer walks through a forest to the beach where you can see snow capped mountains and miles of landscape, to team meetings in our stinky lounge, or the fabulous accents we all are managing to pick up (at least a wee bit) this place is amazing. This morning we had some worship and a small message from our host leprechaun, John, with some of the n.irish teens we've been working with and got to have lunch with them. Then we went to the kairos center to host a kids club and just reflect the love of Christ into the kids' lives. Today we told the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and the firey furnace, the kids were quite interested in my story telling, but it may have just been a fascination with my "American accent". The kids had so much fun being loved on and spending time with us. It's been great forming relationships with the other teens we've been working with (who are as lost as we are in everything we're supposed to be leading). The night time event was geared more towards the middle school aged group, and I have learned... Middle school girls are the same no matter what country you are in. It was great getting to talk to them and get to know them a little.
Bye.

Day 6: Kairos Center children's program and youth drop-in

Here are some pics from today. That's me trying to find where the gas cap is on a minibus. It took us 5 minutes. Also, we discovered we ere in the same town as one of the top golf courses in the world so Alex and I stopped for a quick look.
